Bernie rides to club 50 record1964 Saw Bernie Deamer dominate racing locally and beyond. He set a new club record of 1:59:29 for 50 miles and with Terry Anderson (2:07:15) and Trevor Mills (2:09:52) recorded a club team record of 6:16:36.

His win in the Essex Shield Road Race on 14 August was particularly impressive and helped him to win the club Road Race trophy for this and the following two years.

Mick Wishart - 1968 Tour of Ireland stage winnerA stage of the 1968 Tour of Ireland was won by Mick Wishart.

In the same year George Fell's record 30 was taken by Vic Nott in 1:10:52.

A special general meeting was called to change the club colours.

1975 Dinner Page 1 1968 Saw Clive Butterworth join the club and rode Time Trials and Cyclo Cross, although to the latter he vowed "Never again".
In 1971 the club had a good year in open races with 17 wins, 13 seconds, 15 thirds, 22 fourths, and 17 sixths.
Golden Jubilee End to End rideThe club celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 1974 with a Lands End to John O'Groats cycle ride. Those taking part were Derek Jennings, Tony Dewerson, Les Charnley, Alan Sanders, Andy Hale, Norman Bonham, Charlie Jepson, and Frank Ryan. Click Here to see the full story of the ride.
1975 Dinner Page 1 The 1975 Annual Dinner and Presentation of Awards was held at the Fairlane Motor Inn, Hornchurch on 16 January 1976. Music during the evening was provided by The Tony Williams Sound. The President and Vice President's BAR Trophy was presented to Mick Wishart for his outstanding achievements during the year.
1977 Track championships Trevor Sanders 1977 Club track Championships were held at Herne Hill on 19 October. Amongst the riders were Tony Foote, Rob Morrell, Ian Damant, Trevor Sanders, Chris Terry, Martin Koester, Simon King, Keith Harrod, Mark White, Phil Thorpe-Apps and Chris Pople.

Derek Jennings was elected Barking sports personality of the year.
1978 ERRL 3/j races1978 saw Becontree riders active in Essex Road Race League events. On Saturday 8 April, The 3/J race around the Yardley Industrial estate was won by Phil Thorpe-Apps from Trevor Sanders 2nd with Mark Shaw 4th, supported by Tony Foote, Craig Stevens and Ian Damant and managed by Keith West.
1978 ERRL 1/2/3 racesThe 1/2/3 race on the same day saw Rob Wishart, Rob Morrell, Keith Harrod and Martin Koester riding but unfortunately without success.
1978 3/j races at HighwoodThe following weekend saw Ian Damant, Craig Stevens, and Phil Thorpe-Apps riding in the 3/J event at Highwood. Ian won the bunch sprint for 4th place.
Dagenham Town Show 1979In 1979 the club had a stand at the Dagenham Town show.
